Recruiting and Candidate Criteria
Recruiting is ongoing at Freed Maxick & Battaglia, and we look for talent at area universities and colleges. Many employees are graduates of SUNY Buffalo, SUNY Colleges at Buffalo, Geneseo and Fredonia, Niagara University, Canisius College, St. Bonaventure, Alfred University, Oswego, St. John Fisher, RIT and Nazareth, to name a few. The Firm sees a breadth of talent at these schools and continues to recruit on these campuses. Freed Maxick & Battaglia seeks for candidates who are:
Team-oriented: The Firm assigns teams to work on client engagements. With many hours spent working together, the ability of each member of the team to work effectively with one another is crucial to getting the work done efficiently for the client. Teams change depending on the type of client involved and employees of the Firm often find themselves working many different client engagements with different combinations of fellow-employees.
Skilled at interpersonal communications: There is high demand for individuals who can go beyond technical skills and display good interpersonal abilities. As trusted business advisors, Firm members must be able to communicate effectively, and often must be able to make complex issues understandable to clients. They must also be able to speak frankly with clients about issues that may require change in their policies & procedures, to ensure the long-term success of their business.
Educated, qualified, respected: Entry-level accounting positions require a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration with a concentration in accounting. Candidates that are actively involved in the community also are in high-demand, as Freed Maxick encourages the community involvement of its employees.
