Thomas R. Chiavetta, CPA/ABV, CVA is a Director in the Tax Practice of Freed Maxick's Rochester, NY office. Mr. Chiavetta has over 30 years experience in the accounting profession, spending the early part of his career with a “Big Four’ accounting firm. Prior to joining Freed Maxick, he practiced at another Rochester-area CPA firm, where he was a Partner since 1996.  His background and experience includes tax compliance and consulting for public (SEC) companies and privately-held businesses operating with multi-state and international operations. He has experience with SFAS 109 tax compliance and oversees the preparation of corporate income tax returns and reviews of annual and quarterly provisions for income taxes.  Chiavetta is also be a member of the Firm’s international tax practice, where he provides tax compliance and consulting to multi-national companies, with an emphasis on cross-border transactions. 

Mr. Chiavetta also has earned the designations of Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) as well as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). He performs business valuation and related services for a variety of purposes including buy-sell arrangements, matrimonial matters, in connection with buying and selling a business, and for gift and estate matters.

Mr. Chiavetta has published articles in professional journals and in a local Rochester, N.Y. newspaper circulated to attorneys, bankers, and other professionals.  Mr. Chiavetta is very active in the Rochester, New York community. He is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, Nazareth College and St. John Fisher College. He has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, a Masters of Science in Education and a MBA.
