Timothy J. McPoland, CPA, CVA, CFE, ABV is responsible for the management of the firm’s Litigation Support Services Department, where he has extensive experience in preparing business valuations for a wide range of businesses, and has provided consultation and expert witness testimony relating to valuation issues, antitrust litigation, contract disputes and lost profits analyses.  He has also provided consultation and expert witness testimony as a result of forensic accounting engagements where fraud and embezzlement had occurred for various businesses and organizations, including the Erie County District Attorney and New York State Attorney General.

Mr. McPoland is responsible for the management of the firm's Accounting and Auditing Department, where he monitors the firm's quality control and attest services to firm clients and ensures compliance with professional standards.

He is responsible for the technical review of SEC employee benefit plan audits in accordance with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Department Of Labor (DOL) and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) regulations.  Mr. McPoland represents the firm as the assigned Partner for the firm’s membership in the AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center.

During Mr. McPoland’s professional career, he has obtained a broad background in the manufacturing, construction, mortgage banking, retail, wholesale, nonprofit, and general service industries.  In addition, he has developed a concentration in Securities and Exchange Commission regulatory and accounting matters with over 20 years of experience in auditing public companies and has provided consulting services to companies in assisting their implementation of the provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley Act, including Section 404. He also has a strong corporate and individual tax background.  Mr. McPoland specializes in assisting clients by providing planning ideas in the areas of income taxes, estate and succession planning and assisting troubled companies in finding alternative equity and financing opportunities.

Mr. McPoland is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Buffalo Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysis, and is currently the Treasurer of the National Kidney Foundation of WNY.  He has also been a guest speaker on various committees including those associated with the Bar Association, Commercial Credit Grantors, and the Accounting and Auditing Standards Committee. 

He is a 1981 graduate of Alfred University, joined Freed Maxick & Battaglia, CPAs, PC in 1985, and was elected Director in 1995.
