On Sunday, December 12, The B Team Buffalo and more than 60 of its volunteers held our 4th annual “City of Light” in the Riverside community near Tonawanda St. and Ontario St. We decorated some 40 houses for the holiday season with lights, wreaths, and bows. The residents were also invited to our winter carnival held at Riverside United Methodist Church where the neighborhood children enjoyed games, prizes, photos with Santa, and presents.
Having been involved in all four of our “City of Light” events, the neighborhood was the most welcoming yet. People were excited to have their houses decorated and some even offered hot chocolate to the volunteers, donations to the church, and toys for the other children in the neighborhood. It was the first time many of our volunteers had participated and the overwhelming reception from the neighborhood will be sure to bring them back to more events.
This event is fundraised by the board and Freed Maxick, as they always do in support of their employees outside interest, was a gold Sponsor of the event. The entire event was free to the community and included food and beverages from Coffee Culture, Roaming Buffalo Food Truck, and Bocce’s Pizza.
