Our employees are what make Freed Maxick a great firm. We know we are doing something right because we have been voted a “Best Place to Work” for several years consecutively by Buffalo Business First, recently spotlighted in Buffalo Spree magazine, and our clients and community partners continually commend us for our service and efforts to support them.
Our employees’ individual talents and interests make our staff all unique people, help them within their job here at the firm, and provide clients with the best possible service. We recently put the spotlight on three of our employees, to take a look at what makes them great at what they do. Meet Michael, Rich and Rachele!
Meet Michael, Tax Supervisor, Buffalo, NY: Tactical. Determined. Fearless Tax Hero. Even though Michael is considered to be one of the “quiet” ones in Freed Maxick’s tax department, he really comes out of his shell with a rather intriguing out of the office hobby. Besides enjoying spending time with his son, playing golf, kayaking and going to the movies, most of his free time over the past 20 years has been spent recreating the middle ages. As a member of The Society of Creative Anachronism, Michael is dedicated to researching and recreating the arts, skill, and traditions of pre-17th-century Europe. He even participates in full contact armored combat!
It’s during battle that Michael uses skills like tactical knowledge and a sense of determination to achieve his goals. It’s something that translates to his work in the office when he’s serving his clients’ tax needs. Hard working and always up for a challenge, Michael takes his job seriously and is fearless when it comes to overcoming tough challenges, just like he is out on the front lines of battle.
Meet Rich, Tax Director, Buffalo, NY: Strategic, Motivated, R&D all-star. Rich is not just a Director in Freed Maxick’s Buffalo Tax Practice, where he assists national manufacturing, technology and software companies successfully reduce their tax liabilities by uncovering R&D credits. Rich also takes time out of his busy schedule to serve as “Coach Wright”, leading his local little league team to victory. It’s his love of the game, teamwork and a sense of leadership that helps Rich remain strategic with his recommendations, motivated to do the best for those who rely on him for guidance and advice, and act as an “R&D All Star” for his clients.
Meet Rachele, Staff Accountant, Buffalo, NY: Explorative. Energetic. High Flying Professional. Rachele is a great example of the kind of well-rounded “high flying” young professional candidate we are looking for during recruiting season visits to local and regional college campuses. She is not only a 2nd year staff accountant at Freed Maxick, she’s also one of a kind. She lives an interesting life out of the office, and even once tested her mettle by jumping out of an airplane! When she’s not playing the adventurous skydiver, you might also see her running, playing golf, basketball (she’s a former super star at Niagara University) and even volunteering with the children of the local Boys and Girls Club. Rachele develops interests outside of the office and that makes her energetic, explorative, interesting, and a great addition to the team.
Rachele chose Freed Maxick because she enjoys learning something new every day. With accounting, no day is ever the same and Freed Maxick offers a broad range of industries and specializations for both experienced and university hires. At Freed Maxick it’s not just about accounting, but enjoying life outside of the office, even if it’s at 12,000 feet!
