Entry Level Internal Audit Staff Accountants / Consultants


We have immediate opportunities for entry level Internal Staff Accountants/Consultants in our Buffalo and Rochester offices with our rapidly growing Enterprise Risk Management group.

 

As an Internal Staff Accountant / Consultant with Freed Maxick, you will be part of one of WNY’s largest public accounting firms and a Top 100 CPA Firm in the U.S.

 

We provide a complete onboarding experience which includes orientation and training to jump start your career. Your Performance Advisor will meet with you regularly to make sure all of your questions are answered. You’ll be assigned a “buddy” to help you with those first few days and weeks when you’re transitioning to your new role.

 

As an ERM Associate, you’ll operate as part of a successful team, working on challenging engagements with clients in a wide variety of industries. You will have the opportunity to deliver a variety of services such as: participating in conducting SOX 404 engagements, assessments, internal control documentation and testing of controls, testing procedures, process mapping and analysis, and data mining.

 

Employees are offered the opportunity to develop pro­fessionally through seminars and local, regional and self-study courses. In-house training programs are given regularly which cover a wide range of subjects, including those applicable to a specific industry or discipline.  Guest speakers provide a fresh perspective.

 

Freed Maxick also has a full-time Training and Development Specialist who will meet with you regularly to make sure you are receiving the training you want and need.

 

Our full-time Career Coach will not only provide strategies to you for passing the CPA exam, but also help guide you along your individual career path. You will receive one-on-one mentoring not just from our Career Coach but from your Performance Advisor as well. These resources are dedicated to you, your happiness and your advancement with Freed Maxick. We have a great bonus policy to help you pass the CPA exam too!

 

Regular evaluations and performance conversations provide you with the candid feedback you need to succeed. We’ll cover your technical skills, teamwork, client focus, productivity and dependability. Areas for development will be discussed and together, appropriate plans for focus will be determined.  We know that everyone learns differently, so your individual goals are established just for you. Clear direction and guidance will help you advance to the next level!

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in Accounting, Information Systems or Internal Audit (150 hours required for those who wish to pursue their CPA)
  • The desire to pursue certification – CIA, CPA, CISA, CISSA, PMP, etc.
  • Familiarity with COSO and SOX internal control requirements
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills; solid organizational skills
  • Client satisfaction driven attitude
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately nationally and internationally approximately 50%; a significant amount within the WNY region
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.3; minimum GPA of 3.3 in major course of study
